On Continuity in Social Sciences: a hands-on example on scientometrics and network-analysis

Tommaso Venturini, Sciences Po, Paris – Médialab

Abstract
In the last decades, the proliferation of sociotechnical controversies has imposed a new series of challenges on the social sciences. To be up to their political responsibilities, social sciences need to overcome three main discontinuities that burden their theories, their data and their narration. In this workshop, we will discuss how a more continuous approach to social phenomena can be constructed trough a new generation of digital and quali-quantitative methods. In the afternoon, we will engage together in a hands-on experience of such methods using scientometrics and network analysis.
