Next Helsinki seeks ideas
It’s a pleasure for us to host this call:
“SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 02, 2015
CALL FOR PROPOSALS, CONCEPTS, DRAWINGS, PLANS!
The Next Helsinki seeks ideas and designs for the future of the city that will infuse urban life with artistic meaning and possibility.
We are looking for projects from artists, architects, planners, poets, community organizers, ecologists, students, chefs, sailors, sociologists, and all others with a vision for Helsinki’s future that goes far beyond the purchase of a revenue-seeking, global brand name like the Guggenheim and depositing it on a precious waterfront site.
We require only that submissions be in digital format and are kept to a reasonable size. Although we are calling this a “competition,” our goal is to gather and disseminate as many proposals as we can, through publication, exhibition, and the web. Selected “winners” will be invited to Helsinki for a conference, sauna, a few excellent meals, plenty of drinks, and the opportunity to meet with the city’s artistic community.
Our volunteer jury comprises: Ilhona Anhava / Walter Hood / Juha Huuskonen/ Heta Kuchka / Juhani Pallasmaa / Miguel Robles-Duran / Andrew Ross / Michael Sorkin / Neil Spiller / Joanna Warsza / Mabel Wilson / Sharon Zukin
The “Next Helsinki is sponsored by Checkpoint Helsinki, The Global Ultra Luxury Faction, and Terreform.
Please join the discussion on our blog.”
