Postdoctoral Researcher/Senior Research Fellow, Human Geography
A five-year position is available at the Geography Research Unit of University of Oulu. According to recent evaluations (2007, 2013) geography has been one of the most successful fields in the university. It coordinates the RELATE Center of Excellence (The Relational and Territorial Politics of Bordering, Identities, and Transnationalization) nominated by the Academy of Finland.
Position is available to both Finnish and international applicants. The candidate must have a background in some of the subareas of human geography.
The applicant is expected to hold a PhD degree, to show capacities for independent research and to possess the necessary teaching skills.
Terms of employment
The starting date for the post is August 2016. The post will be filled full-time for 5 years. The salary will be based on the job demand level 5 – 7 of the salary system for teaching and research staff in use in Finnish universities. In addition, based on personal work performance, up to 46.3 % of the job demands level can be paid. In practice, the overall salary range can be from roughly 3,200 ‐ 4,300 € per month depending on the appointee’s qualification and experience.
